ITINERARY

DAY 1: BRISBANE TO LONGREACH
This evening depart on the Spirit of the Outback. Get to know your fellow travellers over a refreshment in the Shearer’s Rest as you venture into the heart of the Queensland Outback. You’ll be captivated by the ever-changing landscape on this fascinating journey between Brisbane and Longreach. Overnight on board the Spirit of the Outback. (D)

DAY 2: LONGREACH
Enjoy a hearty breakfast in the Tuckerbox Restaurant as you make your way to the heart of the Queensland Outback, Longreach. Arrive late afternoon and transfer to your accommodation. Stay the next five nights at The Staging Post, Longreach. (BL)

DAY 3: LONGREACH
Take your seat for a ride of your life at the only place in the world where you can experience what it’s like to gallop in a Cobb & Co stagecoach. Enjoy morning tea before watching a classic Australian movie followed by the Harry Redford Old Time Tent Show. A Billy Can lunch is served during the show. This afternoon you will have time to enjoy the main street of Longreach. Take in the architecture of the 1920’s as you stroll through the heritage precinct. Wander back to your accommodation at your leisure. Transfer to the Thomson River and board a historic paddlewheeler for a sunset cruise. The cruise is followed by a hearty stockman’s dinner around the campfire with bush entertainment and the authentic Starlight’s Spectacular Sound-and-Light Picture Show. (BLD)

DAY 4: LONGREACH
After enjoying a country buffet breakfast at the Welcome Home, travel to historic Nogo Station and spend the morning exploring this working cattle and sheep station. Head to the shearing sheds and watch a champion sheep shearer at work while hearing about the merino wool stories from the past. Next, you will board an open-top, double-decker bus to start your Station Safari. Venture out across the sunlit plains to spot a range of feral and native animals and see the stockyard ruins of the infamous cattle duffer, Captain Starlight. Look around Captain Starlight’s bush camp and enjoy a rustic billy-can smoko under the gum tree. Transfer to the Qantas Founders Museum and join a 90 minute Jet Tour. After the guided tour spend time discovering the many exhibits and learn about the pioneers of flight. Spend the afternoon relaxing at your accommodation before your Stonegrill dining experience at The Welcome Hotel. (BLD)

DAY 5: WINTON
Rise early and enjoy a breakfast basket before embarking on a full day tour to Winton. Visit the Australian Age of Dinosaurs museum for a guided tour of the Collection Room and Laboratory. Visit the Winton Opal Gems before enjoying lunch at the historic North Gregory Hotel and then explore the landmark Waltzing Matilda Centre before heading back to Longreach. Dinner this evening is at The Welcome Home. (BLD)

DAY 6:  AUSTRALIAN STOCKMAN'S HALL OF FAME
Today visit the popular The Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame. Spend time exploring the five galleries of the museum marvelling at the achievements of the early settlers. Enjoy lunch at the museum café (own expense). At 3pm the bus will take you back to your accommodation to relax for the evening. (B) 

DAY 7: LONGREACH TO BRISBANE
Transfer to the railway station for the return journey on board the Spirit of the Outback. Overnight on board the Spirit of the Outback. (BLD)

DAY 8: BRISBANE
This morning breakfast is served on board before arriving into Brisbane, where your tour comes to an end. (B)
